Senior Pastor

Rev. Charles H. McClain, Jr.

Our Leader and Visionary

Rev. Charles H. McClain, Jr. was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Sis. Regina D. Anderson and the late Mr. Charles H. McClain, Sr. From a young child, it was evident that God had divinely laid his hands upon Rev. McClain to do great things within the body of Jesus Christ. Rev. McClain received the Lord at the age of six years old and was baptized under the auspices of the late Bishop Ronald J. Anthony who at that time was the Sr. Pastor of Rev. McClain’s childhood church home, Seven Star Missionary Baptist Church.

In August of 1996, at the age of sixteen years old, Rev. McClain preached his initial sermon under the leadership of his cousin and father in the ministry, Rev. Roosevelt J. Sanders. To a large crowd of family, friends, and church family Rev. McClain stood boldly and preached the sermon titled  “He came for a reason”. During his many dedicated years as a member and associate minister of the Mt. Vernon Community Missionary Baptist Church, God was preparing Rev. McClain for the inevitable. Rev. McClain found himself busy in the house of the Lord serving as a Choir Director, Sunday School Teacher, and Ministry Leader of various ministries. It was with joy that Rev. McClain diligently worked in the house of God, but he knew there was more that God was calling for him to fulfill. In August of 1999, Rev. Sanders elevated Rev. McClain and bestowed upon him his license to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.

With the Lord pushing for Rev. McClain to prepare him for what was ahead, Rev. McClain transitioned from Mt. Vernon to assist his fellow brother in the work of the ministry. In 2004, God elevated Rev. McClain once again when Rev. Victor T. Woods the Pastor and Founder of New Unity, appointed him the Assistant Pastor of the New Unity Church. In January of 2006, Rev. McClain was ordained to the Gospel Ministry by Pastor Victor T. Woods.

Outside of the church, God allowed Rev. McClain to fulfill his childhood dream. In 2006, he graduated from the Marion County Sheriff's Department and for four and a half years served his community as a Deputy Sheriff. Rev. McClain became very active in civic and community endeavors by serving as the National President of the Indiana Black Expo Youth Summit, member of the Peace Corps, as well as working with juveniles in a law enforcement capacity.

With a heart filled with desire to lead God's people, God bestowed upon Rev. McClain the greatest task that he would ever experience. On Feb. 3, 2008, the mantle of the pastorate was passed to Rev. Charles H. McClain, Jr. when he became the third in holy succession to the office of the Senior Pastorate of the New Haven Missionary Baptist Church. At the age of 26 years old, God placed an awesome responsibility upon this young man to change a generation.

Since that time, God has blessed the work of his hands greatly. The surgical precision with which Rev. McClain dissects and disseminates the Word of God has resulted in tremendous numerical and spiritual growth of his congregation. Many new converts and believers have united with this body of baptized believers! God has equipped this Undershepherd with a vision for God's people in the 21st century that changes lives and equips the saints to live victoriously in this present day.
